Decscription/Objectives

An interactive multimedia webpage featuring community profiles developed with local culturally and linguistically diverse communities as online mini-documentaries to share news and views about life in the Northern Territory with friends, families and those interstate and overseas.

Migrant4Migrant is envisaged as an interactive multimedia webpage on the MCNT website with audio and visual information, including local "community profiles" from the MCNT members. The primary feature of the project is the production of "Community Profiles" as 20-25 minute mini-documentaries, showcasing and providing a video description of local ethnic communities.

Results Achieved

There were 10 participants for the “Community Profiles” as follows:
Nepalese Association of the Northern Territory
Indian Cultural Society of the NT Inc
Australian-Japanese Association of the NT Inc
Bhutanese Community of the NT
Multilingual Broadcasting Council of the Northern Territory (MBCNT)
Australia-Burma Friendship Association of the NT
Darwin Tongan Community Group Inc
Australian Karen Organisation – NT Chapter
Darwin Persian Association
NT Refugee Association – Darwin

The project had two main identifiable benefits: it has provided the MCNT with a broader knowledge of their multicultural constituency; and it has provided participating ethnic community groups with a quality online presence.
